Question 1
Research, written and practical assignment (4 hours)
Throughout this lesson you’ve learnt about the various techniques used and inventors that contributed to the art form that is Photography. Choose only one, do some additional research and in your own words write a report on why you think the chosen technique contributed to what we are able to do today through photography.
- Explain your research and choice of technique.
- Include any images which you think are necessary to explain your thought process.

Through this lesson we learned about photography history, different techniques and the inventors of the techniques. I choose to do a little bit more research on the Calotype, invented by William Henry Fox Talbot in 1835. Below i have added a PDF showing my reasearch. Explain how you would set the correct ISO
To change the ISO on my camera, all you ave to do is click on the ISO button on top of the camera. Then it will popp up on the screen and you can easily set what ISO you want using the arrow and set button. ISO is important as it helps decide how sensetive the sensor is to light.
Explain how you would change the aperture
To change the Aperture on my canon 550D Camera, you would need to set the dail mode to AV( Aperture value), then you can use the main dail, located behind the shutter button, to decide what aperture you want. What aperture essentially does is decide how the depth of feild will be. In other words, how much of your image is in focus.
Explain how you would change the shutter speed
To change the shutter speed you must first turn the mode dail to M(Manual setting ). Then you simply use the main dail to set the shutter speed.
Shutter speed is the length of time light is allowed to use, when passing trough the lense. If your subject is moving fast, using faster shutter speed will freeze the subject in place. Whereas slower shutter speed creates a blur.
